Indonesia-Vietnam Bilateral Meeting Discusses Strengthening of Partnership between the Two Countries
Thepresidentpost.id - Hanoi, Vietnam - After conducting a visit to Manila, President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) continued his state visit to Hanoi, Vietnam. President Jokowi held a bilateral meeting with the President of Vietnam Vo Van Thuong at the Presidential Palace, Hanoi, Vietnam (12/01). In a joint press statement, President Jokowi said that at the meeting, Indonesia and Vietnam agreed on a number of cooperation, one of which is increasing new trade targets.
On investment, President Jokowi welcomed the increase in investment between the two countries, large companies, and Indonesian unicorn companies that have invested in Vietnam significantly.
Furthermore, President Jokowi also said that Indonesia and Vietnam have agreed to strengthen food security cooperation, both in agriculture and fisheries.
"We agree to strengthen cooperation in agriculture and fisheries where the signing of the MoU on fisheries cooperation is a great momentum to encourage collaboration and investment in this field," President Jokowi said.
In addition, President Jokowi welcomed cooperation on technology, information, and communication to encourage the progress of the digital industry between the two countries. President Jokowi said that Indonesia and Vietnam have agreed on cooperation in the field of electric car and battery ecosystems, as well as energy transition.
On the occasion, President Jokowi said that Indonesia and Vietnam are committed to maintaining regional economic stability and growth through concrete implementation of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific and support for Laos' chairmanship of ASEAN.
Also accompanying the President during the meeting were Minister for Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister for State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, Minister for Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Minister for Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Executive Chief of Presidential Staff Moeldoko, Member of the Presidential Advisory Council Gandi Sulistiyanto, and Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Denny Abdi.
