Lenggang Nyai Dance Enchants at Asian Cup Mascot Launch in Doha
Thepresidentpost.id - Doha, Qatar - At the Asian Cup mascot launch event in Qatar, the traditional Indonesian dance, Lenggang Nyai from Betawi, stole the show as the only representative from the Southeast Asian region to be performed in the heart of Doha (1/12). This mesmerising performance was presented by the Indonesian dance group in Qatar, Puspa Qinarya.
The Indonesian Ambassador in Qatar, Ridwan Hassan, expressed plans to utilise every moment of the Asian Cup performance as a promotional opportunity for Indonesia. "We will utilise every inch of the Asian Cup performance to promote Indonesia in Qatar," he said.
Margie Azis, chairperson of Puspa Qinarya, expressed her pride at the opportunity. "This is an honour for us because not all dance groups in Qatar get this opportunity. Not even all the Asian Cup participants get this opportunity. The organisers are very strict".
Puspa Qinarya, who performed at the Flag Plaza Festival to welcome the World Cup last year, chose the Lenggang Nyai dance to showcase Indonesia's rich culture on the international stage.
Indonesia has prepared a series of promotional activities, including dance performances and mini sports tournaments, to welcome the Asian Cup to be held in Qatar in January-February 2024 (senior category) and April-May 2024 (U23 category).
Hosting the Asian Cup twice next year, Qatar is at the centre of Asian football attention, and Indonesia, through the Indonesian Embassy in Doha, hopes to achieve a successful achievement while promoting the beauty and diversity of Indonesian culture on the international stage.
