Indonesian Culture Captivates the Filipino Community at the 2023 International Bazaar
Thepresidentpost.id - Manila, Philippines - The Indonesian charm was once again showcased at the "2023 International Bazaar" held at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City, Manila (11/19). In this vibrant event, Indonesia captured attention through a booth featuring batik fashion, handicrafts, souvenirs, and culinary delights from Padang.
Ambassador Agus Widjojo conveyed that another objective of Indonesia's participation in this event is to introduce Indonesian arts and culture to the general public in the Philippines. "With Indonesia's presence at this event, we hope to strengthen people-to-people relations and enhance trust and the image of Indonesia abroad," added Ambassador Agus.
The Indonesian booth, a favourite among many visitors, was adorned with Javanese nuances using batik fabric and traditional ornaments such as angklung, wayang (shadow puppet), tampah (a flat basket), masks, sculptures, and miniature traditional houses. Visitors were captivated by the beauty of the booth, and many came to inquire about Indonesian tourism.
Traditional Indonesian dance performances, such as Tari Siuh, Tari Medley, and Tari Gemu Famire, mesmerized the audience on the main stage. The song "Bengawan Solo" with Keroncong music and a showcase of Nusantara textile fashion added joy to the event and received high appreciation.
The 2023 International Bazaar is an annual event organized by the International Bazaar Foundation Inc., in collaboration with the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs, diplomatic and consular communities, and the Association of Foreign Service Spouses in the Philippines. The participation of the Indonesian Embassy in Manila in the "2023 International Bazaar" not only provided a valuable experience of Indonesia's cultural beauty and richness but also demonstrated that Indonesia can attract attention and appreciation on the international stage. Involving 41 countries, this event serves as a platform for Indonesia to introduce its economic, culinary, and cultural products to the Filipino community.
