Celebration of 78th Indonesian Independence Day in UAE Enlivened by Competitions and Flag Raising
Thepresidentpost.id - To commemorate the 78th Indonesian Independence Day, the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi held a series of lively competition activities from July 25th to August 12th, 2023. This event became an important moment to celebrate the Indonesian Independence Day and strengthen ties between Indonesian and United Arab Emirates residents. (17/8).
This year's Indonesian Independence Day celebration involved not only Indonesian residents in the UAE but also engaged the ASEAN community, considering Indonesia's current role as the Chairman of ASEAN. One of the main highlights was the first-ever hoisting of the red and white Indonesian flag at the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi's new location in the diplomatic area. The flag waved proudly, symbolising the spirit and pride of the Indonesian nation.
Beyond the flag-raising ceremony, the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi also organized 10 diverse and captivating competitions, including bowling competitions involving ASEAN community members and the Indonesian diaspora, the Young Entrepreneur Competition, fishing, table tennis, chess, dominoes, karaoke, badminton, and children's competitions. These competitions were not just about winning but also served as avenues for fostering camaraderie and strengthening the sense of brotherhood among the Indonesian community and ASEAN countries.
The implementation of these competitions, with the community's active participation, was made possible through collaboration with various entities in the UAE. For instance, the Young Entrepreneur Competition was successfully carried out in collaboration with the Islamic Economic Society and the Indonesian Consulate General in Dubai. This illustrated the close collaboration between the two countries in supporting innovation and young entrepreneurship.
The 78th Indonesian Independence Day celebrations were further enlivened by the sight of the proud Indonesian flag displayed on at least 16 iconic buildings and landmarks in the UAE on the night of August 17th, 2023. One of the focal points was the Burj Khalifa, signifying the support and close relationship between Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates.
On this occasion, the Indonesian Ambassador to UAE, H.E. Husin Bagis, expressed his pride in the smooth and diverse celebration activities. He also conveyed his hope that Indonesia will continue to progress and that bilateral cooperation with the UAE will be further strengthened. Regarding this, Husin Bagis stated, "The close relationship between the two countries is evident, supported by the brotherly relationship between the two heads of state. This is a good sign and must be nurtured."
The 78th Indonesian Independence Day celebration at the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi has provided a positive indication of the close relationship between Indonesia and the UAE, as well as the spirit of solidarity among the ASEAN community in celebrating independence and cross-border cooperation.
