The Government Maintains Availability and Price Stability of Staples Ahead of Eid
Thepresidentpost.id - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) instructed his staff to take steps to prepare and anticipate the availability and price stability of basic commodities ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
The Coordinating Minister (Menko) for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said that currently the government has taken preparatory steps, one of which is reducing the price of basic commodities.
This was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy in his statement after attending an internal meeting led by President Joko Widodo at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Friday (24/03/2023).
"I think everything is relatively safe. Of course, stocks that depend on imports are related to what was conveyed by Pak Arief (Head of the National Food Agency) (such as) meat, which includes soybeans, of course we ask that the procurement be immediate," said the Coordinating Minister for the Economy.
Furthermore, the Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan said that currently nearly 90 percent of the preparation steps ahead of Eid have been running.
"Almost 90 percent of the preparation for Eid was on the track , hopefully there won't be any problems. The availability of food is sufficient until today, prices are still under control," said the Trade Minister.
Furthermore, the Minister of Trade said that President Jokowi had instructed Bulog to be able to absorb the maximum harvested rice.
"The President's directive was for Bulog to absorb unhulled rice or rice from farmers as much as possible, as much as possible," said the Trade Minister.
