Thepresidentpost.id - Deputy Minister of Trade, Jerry Sambuaga was a speaker at the Socialization of the Government's Role in Consumer Protection in the Digital Era which took place in Boroko, North Bolang Mongondow, North Sulawesi, Thursday (31 Nov).
Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry said that the development of information and communication technology (ICT) in Indonesia has brought the market to a digital economy with all its distortions and disruptions. This makes Indonesia a potential market for the development of digital platform-based start-up businesses. The development of this business is also inseparable from the existence of consumer problems with broad dimensions, including economic, technological, social environmental, cultural, policy and legal aspects.
Furthermore, the Deputy Minister of Trade said that consumer protection is very important because the problems faced by consumers today are increasingly complex and complicated, so they require appropriate and fast handling steps.
Therefore, the government's task is to ensure that the implementation of affairs in the trade sector, especially the implementation of formulation and policies in the field of consumer empowerment, runs well.
