President Subianto Meets with Pakistani PM to Boost Economic, Trade Cooperation
Thepresidentpost.id - In a bid to reaffirm their commitment to strengthening the longstanding ties between the two nations, President Prabowo Subianto Wednesday (12/18) conducted a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif at the St Regis New Capital Hotel in Cairo, Egypt.
During the meeting, the two Heads of State discussed several key issues pertaining to the relationship between Indonesia and Pakistan.
In his remarks, President Subianto underscored the importance of fostering mutually beneficial economic cooperation between the two nations.
“I just concluded a meeting with Prime Minister of Pakistan, where we also explored the potential for enhancing cooperation in the economic and trade sectors,” the President said in his press statement after the meeting.
Not limited to Pakistan, the President also highlighted Indonesia’s efforts to foster robust cooperative relations, including engaging with members of the Developing Eight (D-8) during the Summit forum.
“Tomorrow, we will meet with other members of the D-8. I believe this is a step toward continuing to build relationships and explore opportunities amid uncertain conditions, ensuring that our respective economies remain strong,” he said.
On that occasion, the President further stated that Indonesia’s primary focus at the 11th D-8 Summit will be on strengthening economic cooperation among its member countries and efforts to enhance collaboration with various nations will continue to be pursued for the benefit and welfare of the people.
“We are exploring all possibilities for cooperation, with our current focus on strengthening our respective economies. I think it is about improving the welfare of the people,” the President remarked.
