Nawawi Pomolango Appointed as Interim Chairperson of KPK
Thepresidentpost.id - Jakarta, Nawawi Pomolango, former Deputy Chairperson of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), was appointed as the interim Chairperson of the KPK for the 2019-2024 period.
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo witnessed the recital of Nawawi’s oath as interim chairperson of the KPK at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday (11/27).
The appointment of the interim chairperson of the KPK is based on Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia (Keppres) Number 116/P/2023 on the Temporary Dismissal of the Chairperson and Member of the Corruption Eradication Commission for the 2019-2024 period and the appointment of the interim chairperson of the Corruption Eradication Commission for the 2019-2024 period.
Nawawi after being inaugurated said that he is committed to restoring public trust in the KPK.
“The most urgent thing now is to restore the public’s trust in this institution,” said Nawawi.
After the inauguration, he will immediately hold a meeting with the KPK ranks to discuss strategic steps that must be taken.
“After leaving this place, I will return to the office and ask my fellow leaders and all structural officials from echelon I and II to hold a meeting. We will discuss all the priority things to address the situation facing the KPK,” he added.
According to him, President Jokowi also gave him special instructions to carry out his duties well.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the KPK will continue to investigate corruption cases handled by the KPK as well as monitor other corruption cases handled by other law enforcement officials.
Apart from that, he is also committed to prioritizing corruption cases with unresolved status.
For this reason, he asked all elements, including media, to support his efforts to restore public trust in the KPK.
