Indonesian Trade Minister Attends Indonesia-US Business Forum
Thepresidentpost.id - The Indonesian Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan attended the Indonesia-United States (US) Business Forum with the topic "Trade and Investment Opportunities in the Archipelago Capital (IKN)" which was held at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in New York, United States (US), Monday (Nov. 20).
The Minister of Trade encouraged US investors to invest in Indonesia's new capital, namely the Indonesian Capital City (IKN). This new capital city will become a super hub equipped with industrial areas and strategic trade routes. IKN will also contribute to the world economy in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2035.
The Minister of Trade also assured investors not to hesitate in exploring trade and investment opportunities in Indonesia because Indonesia's economic growth remains strong. In the third quarter of 2023, Indonesia's economy grew 4.94 percent on an annual basis (YoY) with inflation remaining at 2.28 percent in September 2023. In addition, Indonesia's trade balance in September 2023 again recorded a trade surplus of USD 3.42 billion.
The Minister of Trade expressed his gratitude for the positive enthusiasm from business actors. He hopes that Indonesia and the US can increase the status of cooperation from Strategic Partnership to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP).
Also present on this occasion was the Director General of International Trade Negotiations, Djatmiko Bris Witjaksono; Special Staff to the Minister of Trade for International Trade Agreements, Bara Krishna Hasibuan; Deputy for Funding and Investment of the IKN Authority, Agung Wicaksono; and Deputy for SMEs at the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, Hanung Harimba Rachman.
