Trilateral Meeting with Fiji and Papua New Guinea: President Affirms Indonesia's Commitment to create Pacific Peaceful, Stable, and Prosperous Pacific
Thepresidentpost.id - San Francisco, United States of America - Indonesian President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), held a trilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, James Marape, and the Prime Minister of Fiji, Sitiveni Rabuka, at Moscone North, San Francisco, United States (16/11). During the meeting, President Jokowi emphasized that Indonesia remains committed to making the Pacific region peaceful, stable, and prosperous.
"I emphasize once again, Indonesia is strongly committed to making the Pacific region a peaceful, stable, and prosperous region," said the President.
Furthermore, President Jokowi mentioned that the trilateral meeting reflects the close partnership between Pacific countries.
"This meeting reflects the growing partnership among Pacific countries," he expressed.
During the occasion, President Jokowi also appreciated the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) and Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) for respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Indonesia in various meetings.
"I closely follow the implementation of the MSG and PIF summits, and I appreciate the positions of MSG and PIF that respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Indonesia," he stated.
Moreover, the Head of State conveyed that Indonesia will continue to strengthen its relationship with MSG and PIF through various tangible collaborations.
"This commitment has been demonstrated by Indonesia on various occasions, including inviting PIF to the G20 Summit and ASEAN Summit," he added.
"Indonesia has successfully encouraged cooperation between the ASEAN Secretariat and PIF," he continued.
President Jokowi also expressed Indonesia's hope to be a partner in the development of MSG and PIF. He was pleased to see several developments in public facilities in Fiji and Papua New Guinea.
Accompanying the President in the meeting were the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno LP Marsudi, and the Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan.
