Indonesia- Peru Agree to Enhance Trade and Investment Cooperation
Thepresidentpost.id - San Francisco, United States - President Joko Widodo held a bilateral meeting with Peruvian President Dina Boluarte at the Moscone Center, San Francisco, United States (11/16). President Jokowi conveyed Indonesia's commitment to support Peru's chairmanship in APEC 2024.
"Pleased to meet for the first time and congratulations on Peru's chairmanship of APEC 2024, as well as Peru's Pro Tempore Presidency of the Pacific Alliance, Indonesia is ready to support Peru's chairmanship in APEC next year," he said.
On the occasion, President Jokowi said that the value of trade between Indonesia and Peru in the last five years showed good progress. Therefore, the President requested the support of the President of Peru for the establishment of a free trade agreement so that it can be concluded immediately.
"I hope the first negotiations can be completed no later than the end of 2024 so that they can be announced on the sidelines of the 2024 APEC Summit in Peru," he added.
In addition, the Head of State also asked for President Dina Boluarte's support in the continuity of the Indonesia-Latin America and Caribbean Business Forum (INA-LAC) which will be held in 2024.
"We request Her Excellency's support for the smooth running of INA-LAC 2024 to strengthen economic partnerships between Indonesia and Latin America and the Caribbean," he said.
President Jokowi also encouraged the establishment of dialogue and cooperation between mineral producing countries to ensure the availability and added value of minerals to the sustainability of global supply chains.
"Regarding critical minerals, we need to build dialogue and cooperation with other mineral producing countries to ensure availability and added value, encourage economic progress, and ensure the sustainability of global supply chains," he said.
