Indonesian Humanitarian Aid for Palestine arrives in Egypt
Thepresidentpost.id - Humanitarian aid from the Indonesian government and people for Palestine arrived in El Arish, Egypt, Monday (06/11/2023).
The first phase of humanitarian assistance was previously released by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta on Saturday (04/11/2023).
The aid with a total weight of 51.5 tons was transported using two Indonesian Air Force C-130 Hercules aircraft and one Airbus A330 aircraft and sent via two different flight routes. The Hercules A-1237 and A-1238 aircraft flew the route Jakarta – Aceh – Yangon (Myanmar) – New Delhi (India) – Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) – Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) – El Arish (Egypt).
The first Hercules plane landed at El Arish Airport at around 08.30 local time or 13.30 WIB, followed by the second plane some time later.
The aid was then handed over by the Indonesian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (Wamenlu) Pahala Nugraha Mansury who represented the Indonesian government to representatives of the Egyptian Red Crescent. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs thanked all Indonesian people for their solidarity with the Palestinian people.
"Thank you to the Indonesian people who have shown solidarity with the Palestinian people, collecting aid which has just arrived at El Arish Airport and will be handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent to be taken to the crossing into the Gaza area," he said.
Meanwhile, the Airbus A330 aircraft with flight code JT6001 was flown from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, on Monday (06/11/2023) in the morning and flew straight to El Arish. However, due to weather problems around El Arish, the flight was diverted to Cairo International Airport. Until this news was written, the plane was still in Cairo.
In sending the first phase of humanitarian aid, the government sent various logistical items that had been adapted to the needs of the Palestinian people in Gaza. Assistance includes medical equipment, medicines, tents, blankets, warm clothes and food.
After sending aid, two TNI AU Hercules planes returned to Indonesia via the same flight route as their departure. (BPMI SETPRES/UN)
