President Jokowi Receives Visit from US-ABC Delegation

Thepresidentpost.id - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received a visit from a delegation from the US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java Province, on Thursday (25/05/2023). 

The Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani said that the meeting discussed various cooperation in the field of investment and trade relations between the United States and Indonesia.

"First, regarding how Indonesia can improve the ecosystem of the electric vehicle industry or electric cars, which indeed Indonesia has enormous mineral resources. Second, how can Indonesia also get the facilities to enter the electric vehicle market in the United States and how can we increase our role and ability to attract investment," said the Minister of Finance.

Furthermore, the Minister of Finance said, President Jokowi said that the government would continue to carry out economic transformation, sustainable energy, and the development of the Archipelago's Capital City (IKN).

"Mr President said that Indonesia will continue to carry out economic transformation both in the field of downstreaming and strengthening the electricity industry ecosystem (electric vehicle) and also from a sustainable energy perspective including the energy transition , and also to continue to support the development of IKN," said the Minister of Finance.

In addition, the Minister of Finance said that the President and a number of companies in the energy industry discussed the issue of climate change and the importance of carbon capture technology . The Indonesian government will also comply with commitments in dealing with climate change.

"Now the concern is about climate change where carbon capture technology is important. The government will continue to support policies for energy independence and security in Indonesia and at the same time comply with climate change commitments in Indonesia," said the Minister of Finance.

Regarding the digital economy, the Minister of Finance said that the Indonesian government will continue to improve communication regarding trade patterns, starting from the service side to the security side.

"We will continue to improve communication on how the pattern of trade in which the digital economy is increasingly dominating, needs to be balanced on the one hand with good service and faster service, but on the other hand also security and integrity," he said.

Furthermore, Minister of Finance said, President Jokowi emphasized that Indonesia as a country in the center of geopolitical upheaval needs to carry out global collaboration and cooperation with all parties.

"This is in accordance with our goal to continue to improve our economy, our economic independence, and at the same time cooperation among various countries in the world," said the Minister of Finance. (BPMI SETPRES/AIT)
