Princeton Digital Group Highlights Five Key Optimization Areas for Indonesia’s Data Centers
Thepresidentpost.id - Jakarta, 10 April 2023 – Indonesia is considered as one of the potential markets for data centers in Southeast Asia, with an predicted industry value of USD 3.43 billion by 2027.
Coupled with the country’s large young and digitally savvy population, Indonesia is an attractive market for tech businesses and hyperscalers to tap into the country’s accelerating digital transformation.
This digital transformation also led to a massive growth opportunity for the data center market. Princeton Digital Group (PDG), Asia's leading data center provider, highlighted that as the data center market is flourishing, data centers need to start focusing on optimization – how they can operate efficiently in terms of power usage as well as operations costs, while extending the life of servers, hardware, and reducing unanticipated maintenance expenditures.
Commenting on the need for data center optimization in Indonesia, Stephanus Tumbelaka, Managing Director, Indonesia at PDG explains, “Indonesia’s rapid digital transformation has resulted in massive growth of data centers in the country, including the national data center that is currently being built. However, we need to start thinking beyond just building data centers, but also optimizing these data centers, as the tech businesses’ growth and needs in Indonesia continue to soar.”
According to PDG, there are five key optimization areas for data centers in Indonesia, in order to ensure operability of the data center and ultimately support the long-term accomplishment of the businesses utilizing the data centers. The five key areas consist of:
1. Design of the data center – While it is possible to incorporate new methodologies and technologies in existing data centers, optimization is best done at the design and construction phase itself. With the rapid growth of Indonesia’s digital economy, data centers in the country need to be designed with built-in flexibility, to safeguard the future growth and improvement are always possible.
2. Process – Growth of the data center market in the country needs to be balanced with the optimized processes across all the data centers’ operational system. This includes having a stronger fundamental and comprehensive business process that is stable and proven.
3. Technology – A stable process design needs to be coupled with proper implementation of those process protocols. Application of the right technology, such as a data center infrastructure management solution is the key, leading to automation, which also helps the company avoid human errors as well as ensuring proper implementation of business processes and protocols.
4. Operations – One of the most important aspects in data center optimization is having suitable integration monitoring tools to keep track of the data center’s performance and give an early warning on what could go wrong.
5. Manpower – Optimization and maintaining a continuous improvement also require trained manpower to minimize human errors as much as possible, so that the data centers can operate smoothly.
“Optimization takes care of business processes, the technology that is used, and also the suitable training of manpower to ensure all processes run smoothly. When business processes are automated, can be monitored, and easy to control, the data center remains agile to adapt to future growth and scalability, in line with the rapid growth of the data center market in the country,” concluded Stephanus.
