ESB-Volta, MCAS Group, Signs MoU with IBC to Develop an Electric Vehicle Industry Ecosystem
Thepresidentpost.id - Jakarta, March 28, 2023 - PT Energi Selalu Baru (ESB), a subsidiary of PT NFC Indonesia Tbk (IDX: NFCX), member of PT M Cash Integrasi Tbk (IDX: MCAS) group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Industri Battery Indonesia (IBC) to develop and establish an industrial ecosystem for 2-Wheel Battery-Based Electric Motorized Vehicles (KBLBB).
ESB is a company that focuses on developing electric vehicle (EV) technology and infrastructure, particularly battery components and battery swap systems for Volta electric motorcycles. Meanwhile, IBC is a company formed by four State-Owned Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia: Mining Industry Holding - MIND ID, PT Antam Tbk, PT Pertamina (Persero), and PT PLN (Persero), in which all four enterprises focus on end-to-end battery industry development.
The MoU further strengthens ESB's efforts and commitment to creating a massive EV ecosystem by developing technological innovations and battery infrastructure. To date, ESB has consistently strengthened its EV infrastructure by expanding Volta electric motorcycle’s Battery Swap System (SGB). SGB stations are available at more than 250 points in various regions in Indonesia.
Held at Hotel Mulia, Senayan, Jakarta (28/03), the MoU signing was attended by the President Director of IBC, Toto Nugroho; President Director of PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo, who acted as a witness to the signing, and other parties.
Toto Nugroho, President Director of IBC, said, “The MOU signing between IBC, GESITS, ESB, and ALVA is IBC's initiative in developing integrated battery and electric vehicle systems in Indonesia. We encourage standardization of electric vehicle infrastructure, including batteries, as this will be very beneficial not only for manufacturers but will also provide convenience to find charging stations or battery replacements, lower costs, accelerate the growth of the electric vehicle industry, and positively impact the environment for recycling process if the battery has been standardized.”
Abraham Theofilus, Director of PT Energi Selalu Baru, said, “As a company engaged in the development of Public Electric Battery Vehicle Replacement Station (Stasiun Penukaran Baterai Kendaraan Listrik Umum, “SPBKLU”) with the largest number of batteries in Indonesia, we are pleased with the agreement made between ESB and IBC.
