Thepresidentpost.id - There should be no discrimination between developed and developing countries when it comes to providing green energy investment, Minister of Investment and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Bahlil Lahadalia, has emphasized.

Many international parties have encouraged all countries to use new and renewable energy, however, only one-fifth of green energy investment is channeled to developing countries, he informed at the “2023 Mandiri Investment Forum (MIF)” here on Thursday.

"Hence, it is necessary to have the same views that all countries are equal, thus there should be no discrimination between developing countries and developed countries (in having the same opportunities to receive green energy investment)," the minister added.

Currently, one of the Indonesian government's focuses is building a green economy ecosystem, including by implementing the energy transition and sustainable investment, to strengthen domestic economic growth while still preserving the environment, he said.

The attempt is expected to help Indonesia achieve its target of net-zero emissions by 2045.

"In addition, the government is also striving to reduce carbon emissions by 31.89 percent by 2030," Lahadalia said.

Meanwhile, head of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority, Bambang Susantono, said that the government will implement green, smart, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable development in the IKN area.

The future capital is not only designed to become a new government center, but also a new economic center, he added.

Hence, the government is very open and supportive of investors who wish to explore large investment opportunities in IKN and contribute positively to Indonesia’s economic growth.

"Currently, we are focused on developing nine areas (in IKN), which are being built according to the needs and culture of the surrounding communities,” Susantono said.

He informed that only 25 percent of the areas will be developed into settlements and the government center, while 65 percent will be reforested to turn them into tropical forests and the remaining 10 percent will be developed into parks and food production sites.

“It is implemented to realize (the development of) a sustainable environment," he added. (ANTARA)
